The woman who was thrown off the jury during the Christa Worthington murder trial appeared in court Thursday - but not to serve her civic duty.
Rachel Huffman, 22, was arrested Wednesday and charged as an accessory to attempted murder in Falmouth.
The judge removed Huffman from the Worthington jury last month, after she was caught talking about the case to her jailed boyfriend. Kyle Hicks, 21, is accused of participating with two other men in the Nov. 11 shooting of his cousin.
Huffman's car was used by her boyfriend to drive to and from the East Falmouth shooting scene. It allegedly contained more than 300 stolen vehicle inspection stickers. According to the Cape Cod times, one of the suspects was also found hiding in Huffman's closet.
Huffman was arraigned in Falmouth District Court Thursday. She is charged with accessory after the fact (attempted murder), larceny under $250 and possession of a stolen RMV documents. Huffman is also facing a drug charge. Police also found a small amount of marijuana on Huffman following her arrest.
The judge released her on her own recognizance.
Christopher McCowen, 34, was found guilty of first-degree murder, rape and burglary in the January 2002 killing of Worthington. He was sentenced to life in prison.
Huffman was dismissed Nov. 14 after she was heard disparaging police and talking about news reports of the trial in recorded conversations with Hicks. An alternate juror replaced her on the panel, which convicted McCowen on Nov. 16.
