Boston Police Searching For Clues In Teen's Murder
by Eileen Curran
BOSTON (CBS4) ―
The burned body found in Franklin Park on Sunday has been identified as 19-year-old Dominique Samuels.
Samuels is a 2004 graduate of Milton High School and a former captain of the cheerleading squad there.
She was currently living in Roxbury and working at the Old Navy store in Dorchester. Samuels was also an active member of the Jubilee Christian Church on Blue Hill Avenue.
Her body was found early Sunday morning in a wooded section of Franklin Park on Sunday, near 170 Morton Street.
Investigators are urging anyone who may have seen or spoken to Samuels on either Friday or Saturday to please come forward.
They do not believe she was the victim of a random attack inside the park and have not ruled out the possibility that Samuels may have been brought to Franklin Park from another location.
The Medical Examiner's office has yet to determine the manner and cause of death but there is evidence suggesting an accelerant was used to burn the body. Investigators believe she was dead prior to the body being set on fire.
Samuels brother is a senior at Milton High School. Grief counselors have been made available for students at the school.
"I didn't believe it until I saw it on the news this morning, I don't see why anyone would do that to her, she is such a nice person," said Wendy Raymond, a senior at Milton High School.
