Mother Speaks About Daughter's Mysterious Death
by Kate Merrill
BOSTON (CBS4) ―
The mother of Dominique Samuels has spoken out for the first time since her daughter's mysterious death.
Edwina Samuels read a statement Friday afternoon at the Roxbury Presbyterian Church.
The 19-year-old's burned body was found early Sunday morning in Franklin Park. Investigators believe she was killed at another location, moved to the park and set on fire.
"Our family is completely and utterly devasted over the loss of our precious Dom, who was our family teddy bear. There is no expression, verbal or written, known to man that can express our pain. Needless to say our family will never be the same again."
Edwina spoke about her grief but did not talk about the case or what happened to her daughter. She said a memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Milton High School for her daughter.
Investigators returned to Dominique's apartment on Woodbine Street in Roxbury for a third consecutive day. They also checked another undisclosed location.
Police are also questioning gas station owners, asking whether they saw anyone filling canisters last weekend. Investigators believe the body was doused with an accelerant, which may have been gasoline.
