The woman accused in a fatal hit-and-run last week pleaded not guilty Monday to upgraded charges.
Fredy Zepeda, 35, suffered massive head injuries in Wednesday's accident in Brighton. He died Friday.
Zepeda had just buckled his 1-year-old son into his car seat and was standing outside the driver's side of the car when witnesses say a woman ran him over and then tried to leave the scene.
Cathy Bergin-August, 47, of Watertown was arraigned in Brighton District Court on Monday on upgraded charges of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
Not guilty pleas were entered on her behalf.
A judge ordered her held on $11,000 cash bail.
She is due back in court Sept. 17.
A memorial has been established to assist Zepeda's family.
