State police scoured an undisclosed location in the search of missing 5-year-old Giovanni Gonzalez after his father confessed to the Boston Globe that he killed the little boy.

Ernesto Gonzalez made his chilling confession to the Globe last week during a jailhouse interview. He claims to have stabbed his son to death, dismembered his body parts and threw them in trash bins in Lynn.

Police have said they are skeptical of the confession. Ernesto Gonzalez has previously denied hurting his son.

Giovanni disappeared while in the custody of his father in August. The widespread search for the boy has expanded to Puerto Rico where some family lives.

Police will not say if they recovered any evidence from the recently searched location.
