A judge rules that police were justified in searching the Hopkinton home where the bodies of a woman and her 9-month-old daughter were found dead.
Superior Court Judge Diane Kottmyer rejected a claim by defense lawyers that police violated the constitutional rights of Neil Entwistle when they searched his home without a warrant after family members and friends said they were concerned about Rachel Entwistle and her daughter, Lillian.
The judge said police were acting in their role as community caretakers when they entered the Entwistle home twice in January 2006.
Prosecutors have said they think Neil Entwistle killed his wife and daughter because he was despondent after falling deep into debt. After the slayings, Entwistle flew to his parents' home in his native England.
