Things don't get much scarier for a driver than seeing a hunk of concrete falling from the sky, but that's exactly what happened in Newton Tuesday night.
A large hunk of concrete, weighing several hundred pounds, fell off the Parker Street Bridge and onto Route 9 below.
It happened near exit 20 on Route 9 Eastbound in Newton.
The eastbound lane of the road was closed for awhile why crews removed the rubble, and the bridge and road were both inspected.
The Parker Street Bridge was built in 1932.
Thankfully no one was hurt, and nothing else was damaged.
Experts say such incidents are graphic evidence of the deteriorating state of bridges in Massachusetts.
