Teen Shot To Death In Jamaica Plain
BOSTON (CBS4) ―
A 13-year-old was killed after allegedly being shot multiple times in Jamaica Plain Friday night.
Police said Luis Gerena, of Jamaica Plain, was transported to Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
His death marks the second homicide of 2007.
According to officials, the teen was shot on Horan Way and ran to Parker Street near the Jackson Square MBTA Station.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 617.343.4470, or 1.800.494.8477 to stay anonymous.
Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis stated, "This is the third incident in three weeks involving the shooting death of a young teen. The prevalence of firearms combined with the unabated willingness to use them is a troubling cultural trend that poses a threat to the fabric of our community." Commissioner Davis added, "As a parent and as a member of law enforcement, this tragic act is a clear indicator that together we must work closely with parents and community members to bring an end to senseless violence. On behalf of the department, I would like to express our condolences to Luis's family and friends during this difficult time. I would also like to thank the Gerena family for their ongoing cooperation and assistance with this investigation."
