Students Cope With Football Player's Death

HOLLISTON (WBZ) ― Grief counselors will be at Holliston High School on Monday to help students cope with the death of a teen on the football team.

Joseph "Joey" Larracey, 16, collapsed after being hit in the chest during a scrimmage at Apponequet Regional High School in Lakeville on Friday. After he was hit, he moved to the sidelines, saying he was dizzy. He then passed out and was rushed to a hospital.

His family said doctors discovered the teen's lungs were filling with fluid. He died a short time later.

The school was encouraging students to share their written feelings and expressions of sympathy in the main lobby of the high school. Officials said they will pass them along to Larracey's family.

The cause of Larracey's death is still under investigation.
