Bulger Hitman John Martorano To Be On '60 Minutes'

BOSTON (WBZ) ― One of the most notorious mobsters in New England history will be on "60 Minutes" this Sunday in a rare interview. John Martorano murdered at least 20 people as the top hitman for Whitey Bulger.

Martorano pleaded guilty in 1999 to murder and several other charges.

He had promised to speak to "60 Minutes" correspondent Ed Bradley. The two were teammates on the football team at Mount St. Charles Academy in Woonsocket, Rhode Island back in the 1950's. But Bradley died in 2006, before Martorano got out of prison.

"I never thought I'd be sitting here with you, I thought I'd be here with Ed," Martorano told Kroft.

"But I'm sitting here because Ed wanted to sit here with me and I'm honoring that."

You can see the interview Sunday night at 7 on WBZ-TV.
