Paralyzed Girl's Family To Receive SUV
BOSTON (CBS4) ―
A young girl left paralyzed by a stray bullet three years ago received a special donation Friday.
Philanthropist David Mugar has donated an SUV to Kai Leigh Harriott's mother, Tonya David. She has refused previous offers of a handicapped van because Kai Leigh did not want to stand out.
Harriott was just 3-years-old when she was struck by a bullet as she sat on the third-floor porch of her home. The bullet shattered her spine, permanently paralyzing her from the chest down.
"We're blessed that somebody wanted to bless us," David said.
The family did not own a car before Friday.
The man who fired that gun, Anthony Warren, was sentenced earlier this year to 13-15 years in prison.
