Epping Woman To Return To NH To Face Murder Charge

BOSTON (CBS4) ― An Epping, New Hampshire woman wanted for allegedly killing a 24 year-old Wilmington man and burning his body has voluntarily agreed to return to her home state to face murder charges.

47 year-old Sheila LaBarre was arrested at the Northgate Shopping Center in Revere on Sunday. Prosecutors say she was carrying several thousand dollars and had cut and dyed her hair. "It was part of the reason we were concerned about her flight at the time," said Assistant Attorney General Peter Odom.

LaBarre will be arraigned on first degree murder charges in New Hampshire on Tuesday.

Police say 47 year-old LaBarre killed 24 year-old Kenneth Countie two weeks ago on her farm in Epping, NH. Police say LaBarre then burned his body.

Monday, police were out conducting grid searches on nearby properties, looking for any evidence.

Countie's family reported him missing after he hadn't contacted them for several days. Outside Chelsea District Court Monday, Countie's mother told CBS4's Dan Rea her son traveled to Epping on March 17 for a dinner date with LaBarre. Countie's family reported him missing six days later.

Police won't say how the pair met and the nature of their relationship, except to say Countie moved to the New Hampshire farm several weeks ago. As for a motive, investigators will not comment.

Officials say LaBarre killed Countie around March 21 then incinerated his body.

Police have repeatedly searched LaBarre's 115 acre farm for Countie's remains.
