Legal Sea Foods Launches Suggestive New Ads
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Legal Sea Foods has unveiled a new ad campaign that some may find funny and others may find over-the-top.
The ads are one-liners that are appearing on Green Line trolleys across the city.
Here's the list: (you can also see them in the image box on the right)
- Kiss my bass.
- Hey chumbag!
- Man, you smell like carp.
- If that's your girlfriend, I'd throw her back.
- Is that a worm in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
Last June,
the MBTA removed a "fresh fish" campaign on the T that offended some train operators.
Those ads featured a "fresh" wisecracking cartoon fish that delivered lines such as: "This conductor has a face like a halibut."
Workers complained and the ads came down.
Legal Sea Foods owner Roger Berkowitz then put out a radio spot to "apologize."
He said most conductors don't look like halibut -- some look like grouper, flounder or catfish.
At the time, Stephan MacDougall, a union rep for MBTA operators, called Berkowitz an elitist and insensitive.
