Mother In Lynn Amber Alert Arrested

LYNN (WBZ) ― The mother of four children involved in an Amber Alert in Lynn Wednesday was arrested Friday.

Louna Eveillard is now in police custody in New York City, according to the Essex District Attorney's office.

Police originally said she was kidnapped along with her four children by a man accused in a fatal stabbing in Lynn.  Eveillard was charged Friday with helping him hide.

Eveillard and Rodlyn Petitbois fled to New York City with their four young children Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed to death her friend in Lynn, according to police there, who sought the arrest warrant on a charge of accessory to murder after the fact.

Massachusetts authorities had issued an Amber Alert early Wednesday for Eveillard, 26, and her four children under age 3. They were all found safely later in the day in Brooklyn.

Petitbois, 25, was being returned to Massachusetts Friday to face charges of first-degree murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.  He will be arriagned Monday.

Police say he stabbed to death Greenland Etienne, 33, during a fight.

Witnesses told authorities that Eveillard had gone with the children to stay with Etienne to seek shelter from Petitbois.

The Essex District Attorney's office had maintained until Thursday that witnesses said Eveillard had been taken against her will after the slaying.

However, on Friday, an arrest warrant was issued after Lynn police said she repeatedly lied to investigators in Brooklyn about her whereabouts, about whether she'd ever had problems before with Petitbois -- even about how many knife wounds she had suffered on her hand during the fight at Etienne's apartment.

"Investigators told her that they knew she was lying. ... She insisted she was correct and it was not a lie," police wrote in documents filed in Lynn District Court.

If Eveillard chooses to waive extradition, it's expected she will be returned to Massachusetts for her arraignment sometime next week.
