Woman Hit, Killed During Early Morning Crash

LOWELL (WBZ) ― A woman is dead after she was hit and killed while standing on the roadway after a car crash in Lowell.

According to police, Donald Chea, 27, of Lowell hit a bridge abutment on the ramp from Route 3 to the Lowell Connector around 3:20 a.m. Sunday.

Both Chea and his passenger, Denn Touch, 23, of Fitchburg, got out of the car after the crash and were standing on the ramp when police say Lyly Tran, 19, of Lowell hit Touch.

Tran's car then hit Chea's Honda, which slammed into Chea, who was also standing in the roadway.

A third car that had pulled over to help Chea was also hit by the Honda and sustained minor damage, police said.

Touch was pronounced dead at the scene. Chea was taken to the Leahy Clinic to be treated for serious injuries.

Tran and her passenger, Lisa Santersola, 18, of Dracut were treated for minor injuries at Lowell General Hospital. The third passenger in Tran's car -- 19-year-old Lucille Manisy of Lowell -- was also treated for minor injuries at Saints Memorial Hospital.

According to police, Tran was arrested for operating under the influence after her release from the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
