Lowell Man Pleads Guilty To Biting Son's Lip Off
LOWELL (AP) ―
A Lowell man has pleaded guilty to biting off his toddler son's lip while high on drugs last year.
The Middlesex District Attorney's office said 26-year-old Ty Chan was sentenced Thursday to serve 18 months in jail after pleading guilty to charges of assault and battery on a child causing serious bodily injury and mayhem. Chan also received five years' probation.
Prosecutors said police found Chan's then-22-month-old son wrapped in a blanket and bleeding on Nov. 17. They discovered his lip had been severed and took him to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators said Chan admitted he had taken Ecstasy and cocaine in the hours before.
