Martin Scorsese Film Calls For Bostonian Extras
Movie Starring Leonardo DiCaprio To Be Filmed In Taunton
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Bostonians wishing to make their acting debut had their chance Saturday as the casting company for a movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio scouted out extras for the film that is set to film in Taunton.
Grant Wilfley Casting called for Bostonians to play extras in the film "Ashecliffe" directed by legendary Martin Scorsese.
Filming is scheduled to being in March in Taunton.
The open casting call was held at Boston University Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The 1950s-set film takes place in a mental institution with flashbacks to a WWII concentration camp.
According to the company's ad, the extras will play mental institution staff, mental patients, malnourished and emaciated concentration camp prisoners many of whom while have their heads shaved and people to play WWII American and German soldiers.
An ad on Craigslist called for people with "interesting, quirky or unusual character faces" to play the mental patients.
The film is based on a novel by Dennis Lehane called "Shutter Island." Lehane is also the writer of "Mystic River." That movie was filmed in Jamaica Plain.
