Mass. Man, 22, Dies Mysteriously At Cancun Resort
BOSTON (CBS4) ―
A Massachusetts family is grieving the death of their son and trying to solve the mystery of how he died suddenly on a recent vacation to Mexico.
"I said, 'you know Nolan, it's not the United States. You need to be safe and stay in the resort,' " said Maureen Webster, Nolan's mother.
But it was at the Oasis Cancun Resort, that Maureen Webster's 22-year-old son Nolan lost his life.
He was on vacation with his girlfriend Kristen. The trip was a graduation present from his parents.
"I'm a mother. I need to know what happened to my healthy, handsome bright 22-year-old son that had the whole world ahead of him," Webster said.
It was four o'clock, on January 7th, when Nolan was pulled from the resort's pool by guests. His nose was bleeding and he was allegedly foaming at the mouth.
Kristen, who was napping in her room, had seen Nolan a short time earlier.
"He seemed fine. He seemed like Nolan like he always was. Smiley and laughing and having a good time," said Kristen Zagami.
What happened next is unclear, but they have received several emails all from resort guests who have since returned home.
Eye-witness accounts describe resort personnel working on Nolan but every emailer believes the necessary steps to save his life were not taken.
The Webster's are waiting for the results of two autopsies, one performed in Mexico and one in the US. With the help of the US consulate, they're also waiting for police and resort records.
"I'm just a desperate mother, trying to find some answers. What happened to my son at that Hotel?" Webster said.
Nolan's father went down to recover his son's body, but the family hasn't heard from the resort since.
They're telling their story, in the hope of bringing more witnesses forward and to make sure this never happens again.
