Ghost Busters Investigate Middleboro Town Hall

Strange Noises Said To Have Come From Town Hall's Auditorium For Years

MIDDLEBORO (WBZ) ― The last time we checked, neither Bill Murray nor Dan Akroyd had been seen recently at Middleboro Town Hall.

However, some other "ghost busters" have been making themselves at home there recently.

The Paranormal Investigators of New England  presented their findings to town officials Monday night.

At the meeting, investigators played some eerie sounds recorded during their investigation last week.

Chairman Marsha Brunelle told the Brockton Enterprise that she heard "help me" on the first recording and "help" on the second.

Both recordings were made at the same time using two different devices on March 3.

Len Anderson and Ed Beaulieu of the Paranormal Institute of New England said they didn't hear the "voices" until they played back the recordings.

Beaulieu told the paper the second voice was captured by Paul Lazarovich, a Middleboro resident who went along on the investigation.

Beaulieu also claimed that "orbs" appeared in several pictures and they encountered unexplained equipment malfunctions. He said it proves that there's an unexpected guest at the Town Hall.

"All the activity does seem to be coming from the auditorium," said town historian Jane Lopes. "The former town treasurer said she used to be in the building at night, and she would hear what sounded like footsteps on the second landing going up."

While Brunelle admitted to the paper that she found the whole thing "fascinating", other town officials were much more skeptical about the unusual activity inside the 135-year-old hall.

Town Hall employees told the Taunton Gazette they've noticed strange activity late at night, including footsteps crossing the grand ballroom when no one is there and a deep cold in certain areas of the building.

According to the Enterprise, the "haunting" seems to originate from the balcony of the second-floor grand ballroom. That's where Beaulieu and his team picked up the sounds and orbs.

Selectmen gave the "ghost busters" permission to continue their investigation.  They have not charged the town for their services.
