An Auburn man plans to sue Worcester District Attorney John Conte over the $100,000 reward offered in the Molly Bish case.
Timothy McGuigan discovered Bish's bathing suit on a remote hillside in Palmer in 2003. Police searched the area and found Bish's remains.
Boston-based lawyer Stephen Hrones told the Worcester Telegram & Gazette a poster advertising the reward was changed in the months after Bish disappeared. Initially, the poster offered money in exchange for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
Later, the poster was changed and offered the reward for "information leading to Molly," Mr. Hrones said. He charged that the language was switched back to the original reading after Mr. McGuigan became involved in the case in 2003.
McGuigan, a former police officer, also believes he was treated as a suspect in the case and wants Conte to acknowledge his innocence.
The 16-year-old Bish disappeared from her Comins Pond lifeguard post in Warren in 2000. Police have yet to find her killer.
