If an ESPN report is correct, Bill Belichick will be staying in Foxboro for a long time to come.
Citing league sources and sources close to the Patriots coach, ESPN reported that Belichick has agreed to a contract extension at least through the 2013 season. The deal was said to have been worked out before the videotaping controversy that resulted in a $500,000 fine for Belichick and other penalties against the team.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft says he and Belichick have a policy of not discussing his contract. But in an interview with NBC's Al Michaels last night, Kraft did say that he appreciates all of the contributions Belichick has made to the franchise over the last seven years.
Kraft did say he was disappointed with the rules violation and had made his displeasure known to Belichick.
