It's already the most expensive school in state history, and the price tag for Newton North keeps rising.
The project to renovate the high school has already cost $186 million, and officials in Newton said it could eventually top $200 million.
The discoveries of asbestos and an underground ledge are partially to blame for the expense.
Last year, voters first approved $151 million to build the 400,000 square-foot school. The proposed design includes a glass-walled cafeteria, a 2,000-seat football stadium, two theatres and two large science labs.
