Police say they are following strong leads in the murder of a Newton insurance agent. 39 year-old Edward Schiller was found shot to death inside his car, in a parking garage next to his office.
According to investigators, Schiller was shot in the head at very close range.
Middlesex District Attorney Martha Coakley said Schiller worked at Aronson Insurance, and it appears somebody followed him into the garage or was waiting for him when he arrived at work Friday morning. At this point there's no word on a motive but Coakley said Schiller was targeted and this was not a random crime.
Police were called to the garage, which is located at 345 Boylston Street near the Atrium Mall, at 9:30 a.m. Crime scene investigators remained at the garage all day long. Schiller's body was removed after dark, and his car towed away.
Schiller lived in Framingham, where neighbors were stunned by news of his murder.
Though authorities have leads, they are asking that anybody with information in this case call police.
