Police In N.H. Retire Badge Of Fallen Officer

Slideshow: Officer Michael Briggs Remembered

MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS4) ― The Manchester, New Hampshire Police Department retired the badge number of an officer who was fatally shot while on duty last year.

Officer Michael Briggs was shot while investigating a domestic disturbance on October 16. He died of his injuries the next day.

Despite Friday's frigid temperatures, the police department formally retired badge 83 during a ceremony on the front steps of police headquarters.

Briggs' family and several other dignitaries attended the event.

Michael Addison, 26, faces capital murder charges in connection to Briggs' death.
