The Boston Pops are always a highlight on the 4th of July, but this year they are welcoming 10-year-old Oladunni Oladipo to share the stage.
Oladunni Oladipo, of Canton, is already an accomplished musician, but the piano is just the accompaniment to a voice that has been heard around Boston. She has now been invited to sing the Pledge of Allegiance at the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular.
"I want to meet Neil Diamond," Oladunni Oladipo said.
Oladunni's family mantel is already filled with snapshots of her extensive resume.
"I've performed at the State House about two or three times. I've performed at the Boston Celtics," Oladipo said.
Her career started with an audition two years ago at Symphony Hall. She's since hit the BSO stage nine times, but doesn't have an agent. Yet.
"Well, my moms still doing that stuff right now," Oladunni Oladipo said.
After all, her entrepreneur mother and surgeon father appear to have planted the musical seed in their five girls. All of whom, have grown into singers.
"The house is always filled with music. When my kids were little, I sang to them all," Yemi Oladipo said.
Oladunni writes songs, wants to make a CD and hopes to perform at the White House, but for now she's focusing on her next gig.
"I don't really get nervous but it's so exciting all the time. You want to get to it," Oladunni Oladipo said.
Oladunni hits the Esplanade stage on July 4.
