Randolph Child Hit By Car At Voting Location
RANDOLPH (WBZ) ―
A second grade student at the Elizabeth G. Lyons Elementary School in Randolph was rushed to the hospital Tuesday morning after being pinned between a car and the school.
The Patriot Ledger is reporting that the child is an 8-year-old girl. The newspaper as says that the elderly driver drove up and over the sidewalk before hitting the girl who was playing in front of the school.
The child was reportedly struck by an elderly man who had just dropped his wife off to vote at the school.
The child was rushed to Boston Medical Center; so far no word on his or her condition. The driver of the car was also taken for medical attention.
Leo A. Flanagan, the school's principal told WBZ that the child was pinned by the car against the school building and that other children witnessed the incident.
Principal Flanagan says counselors are at the school to talk to students about the incident, and information will be sent home to parents to help them as well.
Parents have also been notified in case they wanted to pick their children up early from school.
The school already had a half-day because of Tuesday's election.
The school is the polling place today for precincts 5 and 6 in Randolph.
