Friend Says Rockefeller Duped Her In Trip To NYC

BOSTON (WBZ) ― The woman who claims she drove a divorced father and his kidnapped daughter from Boston to New York City says she had no idea she was taking part in the plot.

Aileen Ang, 30, of Ipswich, told WBZ Radio Wednesday she was a friend of Clark Rockefeller, 48, of Boston.  He is wanted for kidnapping his daughter, Reigh Boss, 7, during a custodial visit Sunday in the Back Bay.

Ang said Rockefeller called her Sunday looking for a ride to New York City, because he wanted to see a new boat he had just purchased. She met them at the Boston Sailing Center and then drove them to Grand Central Terminal in midtown Manhattan for $500.

Ang said Reigh, who goes by the nickname "Snooks," seemed fine during the ride.

"She was happy playing in the back. She was actually saying - I can't quote exactly - but it was kind of like 'I love you too much daddy," and he would just respond 'I love you even more.'"

Ang said it wasn't until after she dropped them off that a friend called her and told her about the Amber Alert that was issued for Rockefeller and his daughter.

Ang called 911 and then spent two hours telling New York City Police what happened and what Rockefeller told her in the car.

"Nobody knew for sure what he was actually going to do because he could have just been feeding me lines to make me think something else," she said.

Authorities said they're looking into the possibility that Rockefeller may be trying to flee to Bermuda or Peru on a 72-foot yacht called "Serenity" he docked on Long Island, N.Y.  But there are doubts about what he told Ang, based on his past.

Rockefeller has used at least four known aliases and told people he met different stories about his background. Some acquaintances knew him as a physicist, some as a mathematician and others were told he was involved in financial services.

Rockefeller's ex-wife, Sandra Boss, was so concerned about her former husband's name changes that she asked a judge to restrict his access to their daughter.

Boston police say Rockefeller grabbed his daughter Sunday afternoon during a visit supervised by a social worker in the Back Bay and fled in an SUV driven by another man.

Police found the SUV Tuesday. It's registered to Daryl Hopkins of Medfield. According to police, Hopkins runs a limo company and claims he was hired by Rockefeller on Friday to unknowingly take part in the scheme.

Investigators believe Hopkins drove the father and daughter to Massachusetts General Hospital where they apparently got in a cab and eventually met up with Ang.
