Truck Smashes Into Revere Beach Parkway Overpass

A truck smashes into a Route 16 overpass over Route 107, shutting down the Revere Beach Parkway.

A truck crashed into an overpass on Route 16 in Revere Wednesday evening, pulling down part of the bridge and hampering rush hour traffic.
The area, known as the Revere Beach Parkway, was closed in both directions after the crash that happened over Route 107. No one was injured.
State police officials said a truck went under the overpass on Route 107 North heading toward Chelsea and smashed into the top of the Route 16 bridge, bringing concrete down onto the roadway and damaging Route 16.
It appears the crash took out a guardrail and part of the breakdown lane, forcing officials to shut down Route 16 and Route 107 in both directions at the overpass.
Route 16 traffic had to be diverted around the ramps and back onto a nearby ramp.
The lanes remained closed until engineers were able to assess the damage. By 8 p.m. Wednesday, only one lane westbound on Route 16 remained closed. All lanes on Route 107 also remained closed.
