Funeral Services Held For Revere Police Officer

REVERE (WBZ) ― Funeral services were held Saturday for a Revere police officer fatally shot last weekend.

Daniel Talbot was shot once in the head early last Saturday morning as he socialized with other off-duty officers near Revere High School.

A 17-year-old has pleaded not guilty to a charge of being an accessory before the fact in the fatal shooting.

Derek Lodie of Revere was ordered held without bail at his arraignment in Chelsea District Court this week.

Funeral services for Talbot took place at Saint Anthony's Church in Revere.

Followed by his fellow Revere police officers on foot, the casket carrying Talbot went past hundreds of officers at attention, paying tribute.

Residents also stood by to pay their respects to the fallen officer.

"He really cared a lot (and would) do anything for you," said Talbot's friend, John Bouchard. "He was a kind person."

During the service, Talbot's best friend, Billy Soto, tried to put the loss of the officer in perspective, but became overcome with grief.

Prosecutors said Lodie approached the officers and started an argument, then called three friends, who came to the scene carrying weapons.

Authorities said one of Lodie's friends shot Talbot.

Talbot left behind a Fiancé, who was present at Lodie's court hearing.
