Cars Damaged By Thrown Rocks & Concrete In R.I.

Police Searching For 6-8 Kids

BOSTON (CBS4) ― At least a dozen cars were damaged in Rhode Island after rocks and concrete were thrown from an overpass onto I-95 in Cranston early Sunday morning.

No one was injured.

Police believe a group of six to eight kids are responsible.

"There are serious consequences to this type of action," said Lt. John Lafreniere of the Rhode Island State Police. "Luckily again, no one was injured. But it could have caused a serious, serious accident if not a fatal accident if someone had lost control and struck the barrier and caused serious accidents."

WPRI in Providence repots that one of the vehicles hit was a bus returning from the airport after dropping off the Washington Redskins, who played the Patriots Saturday night in Foxborough.

On July 27, a 55-year-old Ludlow man was critically injured when he was struck by a large rock in the head, thrown from the Laurel Street overpass, while he riding on Interstate 290 east in Worcester.
