Suspect May Have Known Victims In Boston Crash

BOSTON (WBZ) ― A Boston man is facing charges for the violent crash this morning in Dorchester which killed an 18-year-old woman and left a child and baby injured.

The accident happened around 2:45 a.m. on Blue Hill Avenue and Calendar Street.

Initially, police thought the crash was a road rage incident, but they now believe the suspect, 30-year-old Jason Bailey, knew someone driving in another car and began chasing them.

The car Bailey was allegedly chasing went airborne and struck a tree. The babysitter, Porsche Hubbard, 18, was killed in the crash. An 8-month-old baby, who was strapped in a car seat, was thrown from the vehicle and is now listed in critical condition. "It appears the car seat worked, it functioned to keep that child as safe as possible," said Police Deputy Supt. Daniel Linskey.

Firefighters needed to cut open the car to free the rest of the passengers. The driver, a 26-year-old woman, is in a drug-induced coma. Officials say she is in stable condition. The 8-month-old is said to be her daughter.

A 10-year-old was also in the car when it crashed and is now listed in serious but stable condition. Officials say she has no relation to anyone in the car.

As for Bailey, he is facing several charges, including motor vehicle homicide, operating under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident. He is being held on $100,000 cash bond.

Investigators say this may have been the result of a domestic dispute. "There was an apparent road rage incident between people who know each other," said Police Captain James Claiborne.

Portions of Blue Hill Ave. were closed for several hours following the crash.
