CLAREMONT, N.H (WBZ) ―
A Sullivan County jail official says an inmate being held on armed robbery charges cut a hole in cell ceiling and escaped.
The New Hampshire Union Leader says four state police troopers and their police dogs are searching for 45-year-old Robert Hale III who was discovered missing at 2:40 a.m. Thursday.
County Jail Superintendent Ross Cunningham says Hale was last seen at 1:40 a.m.
Hale was in jail awaiting trial on a charge he tried to rob a Claremont gas station with a knife in March.
Officials say Hale is a white male, 6 feet tall who weighs between 160 and 170 pounds.
