Third Arrest Made In Revere Officer Shooting Death

REVERE (WBZ) ―

A third arrest has been made in the shooting death of a Revere police officer.

Gia Nagy, of Revere, was arrested and charged with being an accessory to murder after the fact in the shooting death of Officer Daniel Talbot on Sept. 29.

Nagy will be arraigned Monday in Chelsea District Court.

Robert Iacoviello Junior, 20, was arrrested in November in connection with the case and has since pleaded not guilty to the murder.

His attorney, Peter Krupp, says Iacoviello did not shoot Officer Talbot and accuses police of intimidating witnesses in their rush to make an arrest.

"In the aftermath, we saw an investigation marred by speculation with the police barging into people's houses without a warrant, knocking down doors and intimidating witnesses," Krupp said.

Iacoviello was the second person to be charged in Talbot's killing, joining 17-year-old Derek Lodie, who has pleaded not guilty to being an accessory to murder.

Prosecutors say Talbot and three other police officers were drinking beer and socializing in the bleachers at the Revere High School athletic field when Lodie exchanged angry words with the officers.

Lodie then allegedly called Iacoviello, who is accused of shooting Talbot in the head.

There has been some question about whether the three officers who were drinking with Talbot at Revere High School will be disciplined.

Officials said officers are generally disciplined when they engage in activity that is in violation of the law and disciplinary action is possible in this case, though it's unknown what action will be taken.

The Grand Jury investigation into the shooting is still at work. The District Attorney said by the time the investigation is over, there could be more arrests in the case.

It's unclear what role Nagy played after the murder.
