Wilkerson Apparent Senate Winner After Recount

BOSTON (CBS4) ― The recount of the Second Suffolk Senatorial race by the city's Elections Department was completed today and showed that incumbent Senator Dianne Wilkerson is the apparent winner, according to the mayor's office.

The final unofficial totals had Wilkerson with 6,478 votes to Sonia Chang-Diaz's 5,711.

The total number of ballots cast in the wards and precincts in this senatorial district is 25,587, with 12,626 blank votes and 12,961 votes in this race. Challenger John Kelleher had 400 total votes and challenger Samiyah Diaz had 238 total votes.

There were 134 other votes.
