Weight Limit To Blame For Shrewsbury Sizzler Death

SHREWSBURY (CBS4) ― A carnival ride's weight is to blame for an accident that killed a mentally disabled man in 2004.

The man was thrown from the Sizzler rid at a church festival in Shrewsbury. Federal investigators say the carnival ride was over the weight limit and that's why he was thrown.

38-year-old Andrew Fohlin suffered massive head injuries in the accident. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the combined weight of Fohlin and another disabled man in the same seat exceeded the 350-pound limit.

The ride supervisor has been indicted for manslaughter.
