More Snow, Rain Expected This Week

Watch The Latest Forecast

WBZ Doppler Radar

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Monday's icy wakeup call was just the beginning of the wintry weather expected for this week. A lot more rain, sleet and snow could be on the way.

A weak storm system will reach us Tuesday night. But WBZ Meteorologist, Todd Gutner says thanks to warmer temperatures it should only bring with it rain during the night hours and Wednesday morning.

Gutner says those warmer temperatures will help melt everything on Wednesday, before another storm comes calling on Thursday.

A snow storm is expected to hit the Boston late Thursday afternoon and evening. Gutner says it could leave behind "plowable snow" with as much as six inches in the city. However the storm could also shift south meaning less accumulation. Less now is expected along the coast where the snow will mix with rain.

Areas south of the Mass. Pike could seen anywhere between 4 and 8 inches of snow, while areas north of the Pike could see between 2 and 4 inches of snow.

If that's not enough Gutner says another bigger storm system should reach New England on Sunday, bringing even more snow, ice and lots of wind. Gutner says the storm could also have an impact on the New England Patriots game Sunday against the New York Jets
