Wilkerson's Challenger Calls For Vote Recount
BOSTON (CBS4) ―
Sonia Chang-Diaz, the women who finished second to Dianne Wilkerson in the state Senate race is calling for a recount of the votes.
Wilkerson won the unusual election by about 700 votes after ballots that weren't counted on Primary Night were recorded on Thursday.
Chang-Diaz will have to collect at least 500 signatures - 50 from each of the 10 wards in the district - to get the recount.
Wilkerson was the incumbent in the race but was forced to mount a sticker campaign after failing to obtain the 300 signatures needed to get her name on the primary ballot.
She faced three challengers in the Second Suffolk district, including Chang-Diaz, John Kelleher and Samiyah Diaz, who is also running as a Republican.
