Supreme Court Won't Hear Buddy Cianci's Case
PROVIDENCE, RI (CBS4) ―
The United States Supreme Court has refused to review the conviction of former Providence Mayor Vincent "Buddy" Cianci.
Cianci is serving a five-year sentence for racketeering conspiracy.
Back in July, he asked the court to review his conviction, claiming a tape recording held out of evidence during his trial would have helped clear him.
The Supreme Court rarely grants these requests, and that was the case again Tuesday.
Cianci was convicted in 2002, after a federal investigation into corruption at Providence City Hall.
He's due to be released from prison in July 2007.
