Swans Romeo, Juliet Return Amid Much Fanfare

BOSTON (WBZ) ― After a long winter, Boston Mayor Tom Menino welcomed the swans back to the Public Garden Tuesday.

The 20th Annual Return of the Swans was held at the Gardens just before noon Tuesday.   The swans, named Romeo and Juliet, were released in front of a crowd of people of all ages.

The swan boats have also come out of hybernation in the gardens.  This season marks the 132st season the boats have hit the water in Boston.

The swan boats are still run by the same family that started them in the late 1800s. The boats will remain in the water until September 21.
