CBS4 Obtains Taunton's Dam Inspection Report

Before this week, inspectors last checked the Whittenton Mills Dam two years ago. On Tuesday, CBS4 got a copy of an inspection report from 1998.

At that time, engineers warned if the ongoing maintenance is not continued, and the structure is allowed to deteriorate further, unsafe conditions could develop.

The report also noted that the missing and deteriorated stop logs and the missing buttress should be replaced.

The report estimated repairs to the dam would have cost about $100,000.
