Tom Brady, Bridget Moynahan Welcome Baby Boy

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady became a father Wednesday when his ex-girlfriend, actress Bridget Moynahan, gave birth to their baby boy.
The baby was born at a Los Angeles hospital. Brady, 30, was absent from practice Wednesday, giving rise to speculations that the baby's birth was nearing. It is unknown if Brady will play at Friday's game against the Carolina Panthers.
Moynahan's publicist said mother and baby are doing well. She did not give further details.
Brady had said earlier this week that he would like a few days off for the birth of his first child, calling the event "a very joyous, happy situation." It was unknown if he arrived before the baby was born.
Moynahan, 36, originally from Longmeadow, Mass., announced in February that she was pregnant with her first child.
She and Brady were a couple for three years until their split in December.
Brady has been dating model Gisele Bundchen.
Moynahan is a former model who has starred in such films as "Coyote Ugly," "I, Robot" and "The Sum of All Fears." Her television credits include "Sex and the City" and the ABC series "Six Degrees."
Brady has led the Patriots to three NFL titles and is a two-time Super Bowl MVP.
