Several families are looking for a place to stay overnight after a U-Haul
truck slams into their home in Dorchester
Saturday morning.
When officials arrived, they said the truck's cab was completely inside the home on Stanwood Street.
"I heard loud noise and then the van came crashing through the wall,"
said Mari Rojas, who was inside the home with her family at the time of the
crash.
The man inside the home is being treated for injuries at Boston Medical
Center, according to
officials.
Investigators said they had to be very careful when they pulled the van out
from the house. "Anytime we get a vehicle into a building, we have to worry not
only about collapse, but all the utilities...We could have a gas leak, we could
have an electrical problem, we could have a water problem with the electricity,"
said Chief James Evans of the Boston Fire Department.
The Red Cross is now working to find hotels for the displaced families to
stay in for the next few nights. According to officials on the scene, 12 people
were living inside the house.
Investigators say they are still trying to determine the cause of the crash.
