Two Men Shot To Death At Wakefield Business
WAKEFIELD (CBS4) ―
Police in Wakefield are investigating the shooting deaths of two men at the Allstate Concrete Pumping Company.
The bodies of 51-year-old Chester Roberts and 39-year-old Michael Zammitti were found shortly before 8 a.m. Monday.
Middlesex District Attorney Martha Coakley says Roberts was shot in the back on the first floor of the building. Zammitti was shot in the head at his desk on the second floor.
"We will say at this time, the shooting does not appear to be random," said Coakley.
Police believe the shooter may not have expected Roberts, a part-time driver for the company, to be in the building.
"It does not appear given the location of the bodies, he was the intended target of this," said Coakley. "He may have happened upon the situation."
Coakley says the bodies were discovered by Zammitti's father. Billy Crocker, who works across the street from Allstate said he witnessed Michael Zammiti Sr.'s reaction to the discovery of his murdered son. "You could see him screaming in grief," said Crocker. "I saw Michael coming out with his hand on his heart."
Investigators are still seeking a motive for the murders.
Allstate Concrete Pumping is a family run business located on New Salem Street. According to the Blue Book of Building and Construction, Allstate has done work on the Big Dig.
