2 Plead Not Guilty In Mass In Boy's Uzi Death

SPRINGFIELD (AP) ― Two men accused of providing machine guns to a show where an 8-year-old Connecticut boy fatally shot himself with an Uzi have pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

Attorneys for Carl Giuffre of Hartford, Conn., and Domenico Spano of New Milford, Conn., entered the pleas Monday after the men were excused from appearing in court in Springfield.

Hampden District Attorney William Bennett said the men brought the guns to the Westfield show in October after being wrongly assured by a show promoter that it was legal for children to use the Uzi under Massachusetts law.

Christopher Bizilj of Ashford, Conn., lost control of the automatic weapon and shot himself in the head.

Bennett and attorneys for the two men declined comment on the case.
