Report: Raccoon Attacks Shopper In Worcester Store
WORCESTER (WBZ) ―
A woman shopping at a Worcester supermarket was reportedly attacked inside the store by a raccoon Tuesday.
According to the Telegram & Gazette, the unidentified woman was bitten or scratched by the raccoon before it ran outside to a nearby park.
That's where police found it. Because it appeared to be disoriented, they suspected it had rabies, and shot it.
The paper said the victim is 59 years old and lives in Worcester. She was advised to see a doctor.
The dead raccoon is being tested for rabies.
This is the second time this week Worcester police have shot and killed a raccoon that's suspected of having rabies.
According to the Telegram & Gazette, the first incident happened on Indian Hill Road Monday afternoon, when another disoriented raccoon was acting aggressively towards a home owner.
