Police Look For Connection In Decades-Old Murder

WORCESTER (WBZ) ― Officials are investigating a possible connection between a series of prostitute murders in Worcester County and a murder in New Bedford that happened two decades ago.

Alex Scesny, 38, is considered a "person of interest" in a series unsolved murders in central Massachusetts. Now, officials are looking into whether the murders have any connection to the disappearance of Debra Greenlaw DeMello of Brockton, who vanished 20 years ago in New Bedford.

According to the Brockton Enterprise, investigators are trying to figure out if Scesny was in the New Bedford area in 1988 – the same year 11 drug-addicted women were reported missing. Officials are now creating a timeline to figure out Scensny's whereabouts at that time.

Scesny is currently being held on a rape charge unrelated to these cases.

Police said they had been keeping an eye on Scesny since the skeletons of Worcester prostitutes were discovered in Marlboro and Hudson five years ago.

Scesny has a history of violence and a drunken driving record.
