They are horses without a home -- former family pets that can no longer be cared for, and at the MSPCA Nevins Farm in Methuen, every stall is full.
Melissa Ghareeb says the tough economy has forced many families to give up their pets. A total of 35 horses have been surrendered to the farm already.
"They are giving up their animals because they can't care for them?," asked WBZ's Paul Burton.
"Yeah. They can't afford to care for them and we will see this in tough economic times," explained Ghareeb. "It's a high cost to provide proper care for your animal if your home is foreclosed on. You may not even have a place to keep your animal."
Each one of the horses costs the farm about $320 a month, and because the MSPCA has received so many horses in such a short amount of time, their funds are now dangerously low.

Adopting one of the horses can cost anywhere from $600 to $400.
