Girl Hit By Car In Abington Crosswalk

ABINGTON (WBZ) ― A 5-year-old girl was hit by a car while in a crosswalk in Abington Wednesday afternoon.

Police officials say the crash happened just before 3 p.m. along North Avenue.

She was airlifted to Boston Medical Center where she is listed in serious condition. The Brockton Enterprise reports the child under went surgery after suffering broken bones throughout her body, including her head.

The Enterprise also reports the girl, identified as Brandy Rix, had been struck by a medical transport van driven by a woman in her 20s.

Police are investigating speed as a possible factor in the crash.

The girl had been crossing the street inside a crosswalk with her mother and three siblings when she was hit. No one else was injured.

It's unclear if the driver of the van faces any charges.
