A man accused of punching and killing an Abington man who complained about his barking dog has been charged with manslaughter.
Michael McGunigle, 49, turned himself in to police Wednesday morning after they obtained a warrant charging him with manslaughter in
the death of 48-year-old Brian Cherry.
Cherry was hospitalized July 6 after McGunigle allegedly punched him in the head outside a coffee shop in Abington after Cherry suggested that McGunigle should restrain his dog.
The dog was in an SUV, but was barking and menacing people who were walking by.
Cherry hit his head on the ground after getting punched.
He died from his injuries on July 12.
McGunigle will be arraigned Wednesday in Brockton District Court.
He has claimed that Cherry was the aggressor.
