Heat Brings Air Quality Alert
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
A return of hazy, hot, and humid weather will drive up smog levels this weekend.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says the air quality will be unhealthy in much of New England starting Friday.
The National Weather Service has issued an
Air Quality Alert from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. for most of Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.
The Mass. Department of Environmental Protection says the unhealthy air quality will continue for the entire state all weekend.

In addition to the smog, the conditions will likely lead to high demand for electricity.
People should limit strenuous outdoor activity if possible to avoid heat-related illnesses.
